firefox 3.5 tips and tricks

I have already mentioned that firefox is one of the best browser. The latest version, released few days ago, has many new and pretty features. I also shared some tips about firefox but not for firefox 3.5. You can check these tips here:

But this time the tips are more related to firefox 3.5 version.

Entering private mode -
Private mode is used when you want the browser not to save history, cookies, passwords etc. while browsing for that particular time. This feature was already present in chrome, safari etc. but newly introduced in Firefox. You can go there by pressing keyboard shortcut Cmd+Shift+P on mac or Ctrl+Shift+P for windows

Keep in history but forget -
You can have few sites in your history which can be forgotten so that when you type some keyword in the browser, the site does not appear. It can be seen only when you are viewing the entire history folder.
Go to the History folder and right click on any website title, and you will find the option.

Restoring individual tabs in crashed window -
Most often there is a single tab than can crash down the whole browser and the window can be having lots of tabs open at that time. If you know which tab was responsible for the crash, when you reopen firefox, you can have the option of restoring the tabs of your choice and opting not to restore the ones which might be responsible for the browser crash.

Pull out tab into a window -
Just like in Chrome, you can make a new window from any single tab. You don’t need to copy the URL, open it in new window if its already open. Just drag the tab out of the tabs section and throw it somewhere in the content section. You would see it in a new window.

Clear recent history -
With the new firefox browser, you can clear history within a certain time range and that can be within the previous hour, last few hours, or the whole history of that particular day.
You can do that with the following keywords -
Mac – CtrlCmd+Shift+Del
Windows – Ctrl+Shift+Del

Mix Tab Plus not working?
One of the favorite add-ons for most of the firefox users, Mix Tab Plus is not working with Firefox 3.5. But here is the dev build of the add-on which i tried on the browser and it worked perfectly. Check it out here.

Do i need a flash player for Firefox 3.5?
Unlike Google chrome, where the chrome flash player issue is always seen, the open formats helps in displaying the content including video and audio without a need of any additional plug-in to play them. So there is no need of a flash player for Firefox 3.5

Zoom in and out -
Zooming in and out of the web page is seen with the images too becoming bigger and smaller with the command, instead of only the text.
Keyboard shortcut for mac - Cmd+ + to zoom in and Cmd+ – to zoom out.
Keyboard shortcut for windows – Ctrl+ + to zoom in and Ctrl+ – to zoom out.

Open latest closed tab with keyboard -
When browsing many tabs together, you accidentally delete one tab not knowing what it actually was. To restore that tab, hit Ctrl+Shift+T and the last closed tab reopens at the same location.
