Fonts and Font Size

blog fonts

Well, I am very conscious about fonts while selecting the theme for my any blog. That is really important for your reader.

I see many blogs which are not so good looking in the sense of graphics, but you are inspired by the fonts and font size they are using. You can also experience that sometimes blogs are best, both graphically and content wise, but when I start to read it, I feel bored due to improper fonts and size. Sometimes the line-height is so less that it seems the words are intermingling with each other.

Whenever I try any theme for my blog or for my friend’s blog, the first thing which I see is fonts. Sometimes I adjust the fonts accordingly if I am inspired by any blog due to its design.

So whenever you wanna make a blog for yourself, keep in mind that you have browser friendly fonts like Ariel, Georgia etc. And never set the font volume less than 13px or at least 12px. Set the line-height also. Often designers don’t care about line height, but in my point of view it should be paid attention equally.

I often set the fonts, font size and line height accordingly and most importantly always test the theme in different browsers at different resolutions and sometimes even on different monitors :) .

Changing the fonts is very easy. Just open the style.css from inside your theme directory and look for font-size. It will be usually in few first lines of style file. According the font type, select the font size and check it before you go online.

And moreover the proper font size also helps in SEO (search engine optimization) for your blog. If you use improper headings in your post like every heading in h2 or h1 format, it will affect the position of your site in search engines.

So never take it light to use the proper fonts while you write any post. Too many headings in the post will distract the search engine bot from the main concept of your post and bots don’t like improper headings.

Bots are your friends, and if you won’t treat them effectively, their visits to your site may be reduced greatly.
